Meet the Doctor
Dr. Henry Hua is a glaucoma-certified therapeutic optometrist practicing in San Jose, California. He is a graduate of University of California, Davis and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Molecular Cellular Biology and Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Hua was recently appointed to the California Optometric Association (COA) Board of Trustees and is the first Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry graduate to do so. He is a San Francisco native and attended Western University College of Optometry where he was appointed to the board of the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Hua is licensed in California and has a wealth of experience in several optometric settings, including private practice, corporate, and hospital. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry to treat and manage ocular disease. He specializes in modern eye care issues including myopia control, contact lenses, dry eyes, and digital eye strain.
Dr. Hua is an established advocate for the profession of optometry and has attended legislative events like American Optometric Association on Capitol Hill, Legislative Day in Sacramento, and House of Delegates in multiple states. He currently serves on the board of the California Optometric Association as a Trustee, assisting with recruitment and retention strategies and representing the great state of California at state-wide and national optometric meetings.
Currently, Dr. Hua practices at Almaden Optometric Associates. He has taken on leadership roles in the local community and the State of California, serving as the immediate past president of San Francisco Optometric Society. Dr. Hua was also nominated and selected to be a part of the American Optometric Association's Leadership Institute by experienced doctors, champions and leaders of optometry. He was recognized for outstanding professional and ethical attitude through leadership and service to the profession of optometry.
